Traditionally airlines have not allowed passenger names to be transferred on a flight ticket. Often fares can be purchased cheaply when they are first released and some people and agents buy these in bulk with the intention of reselling them at a later date when the fares are higher at a profit. Travel Salvage does not condone this type of activity at all.
Low cost carriers such as Ryanair and Easyjet and some more traditional airlines are now allowing passenger names to be changed. Often a set fee will be charged per name change. In addition to this fee, the difference between what was paid for the flight seat and what it is selling for at the time a name change is performed will also be payable to change the passenger name on the ticket. So if you bought your flight for £100 and it is now selling for £150, the name change fee, plus the £50 fare difference is payable when changing the name.
Often it is still worthwhile transferring your flight ticket to someone else when you find you can no longer use it. Especially where 100% cancellation fees apply.
Check how much it will cost to transfer your flight seat to a new passenger and if you believe you can sell the flight to someone else for more than that cost you have a good chance of saving money by transferring your flight to a new passenger.
